With the blue wildebeest, the black wildebeest is member of wildebeest species. Black wildebeest can be found in the plains of Africa especially in Lesotho and South Africa, and also in Kenya, and Swaziland. These large animals can weigh up to 346 pds. Despite their size, the black wildebeest is a very fast runner so that they can escape from their main predators, lions, leopards, hyenas and African wild dogs. They have been measured at up to 80 kph. That's a lot of wildebeest coming at you at vert fast speeds.
