We will be showcasing such wondrous oddities as fossils, plants and taxidermy and relating them to specimens and science at the Academy. Learn the history and significance of taxidermy with a live demonstration by San Francisco-based artist Jeanie M, explore fossils that are millions of years old, and see a truly bizarre and beautiful plant selection that will highlight the interdependence of plants and |
animals in their natural habitats. Paxton Gate joins The Academy of Science for an evening of Taxidermy, Fossils and music from DJ Smiley. |

Story Hour
Bay Area based illustrator Emma Sancartier reads her newly released children’s book The World is Your Oyster, a collaboration with writer, Tamara James. This inspirational book features a cast of whimsical characters elegantly worked in watercolor. The book also accompanies an exhibit of the artist’s work titled “Stories Told," a collection of |
illustrations based on birds and beasts from fables and tales running March 3rd – April 13th . Emma will be signing copies of her book after the reading and answering questions. |

Representatives from the San Francisco Zoo will be at Paxton Gate's Curiosities for Kids for crafts, games and of course, animals! They will be bringing a few friends along from the Zoo's education animal collection for a day that is sure to be wild. |
